A Perfect Combination

Graphic Designer finds his "perfect combination" of software and woodworking with the CarveWright Woodworking System

They say “the cream rises to the top” and this is certainly true for Brandon Mac owner of Liquid Guitars.com His award winning designs can only be described as “Works of Art”. From designing Custom Cabinetry; to his unbelievable Hand-Made Guitars, Brandon says he “loves to see his designs on paper come to life in wood”.

Brandon began woodworking at an early age in Wood Shop Classes and eventually opened his own Custom Cabinetry Business. Hoping to clean up the Company’s Books, his mother convinced him to purchase an “Amiga” computer. They soon found that the Amiga had few accounting capabilities, but what it did have was a great Graphic Design Software package that Brandon soon mastered.

Graphic Design soon became Brandon’s passion and his skills landed him in the position of Modeler for several Hollywood Studios: Cyberdreams, Interplay Productions and Wavefront, the creators of Maya, which incidentally is still the industry standard in 3D modeling today! Finally, Brandon ended up going to work for Foundation Imaging who had just landed a contract with giant movie maker Paramount. While there; he went ‘where no man had gone before’, and converted Star Trek into the new 3D images like the one’s you see in Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Star Trek Voyager. His Star Trek Voyager work won a Prime Time Emmy Award and an Emmy Nomination in 2001.

But Brandon never lost his love for woodworking and he decided to depart from the corporate world and go back into business for himself. Viola! He created Liquid Guitars. Brandon is now making Guitars full time, just one problem; as the orders pour in how can he keep up with production and not skimp on quality? So he sets out to find the perfect marriage of 3D design software with a small CNC System. After shopping a bit and searching on the internet he stumbled onto Carvewright.com and downloaded a free trial of the Carvewright Designer Software.

Now Brandon has an intuitive and easy to use software package in his hands, but would it integrate with his high end 3D Graphics Software? Could the Machine be used to replicate and produce his masterpiece guitars? Absolutely! Suddenly his Guitar business takes off and he now has the right software combination and a Machine that can produce fabulous results at a fraction of the time it took to carve by hand.
