Sometimes a customer comes along with a project that just blows us away. Then there are customers like Dick Bipes of Carveshop.com who somehow do it all the time. We’ve been watching him post updates on his Woody Bronco golf cart for years, and it’s time we shared it with everyone.

This project started with a hideous home made golf cart Dick found locally. He saw some potential in it, so he stripped it down to the chassis and starting working on it.

All the parts were cleaned up and painted, it was fitted with new batteries and bucket seats, and then the carving started.

All the parts were designed in CarveWright’s Designer CNC software and carved with a CarveWright CNC router. The first parts were the floorboard and seat panels including a wooden gear selector!

All the panels for the entire body were 3D modeled with Designer Modeling Suite tools and carved in 11″ sections and glued together. They were made out of 2″ x 4″ and 2″ x 6″ cedar stock, glued into 11″ panels and then planed to 1.5″ thick.

Cap pieces were carved and attached to transition the ends of the panels and then they were attached to the chassis. The bronco quickly started taking shape.

Next was getting into the details. A Bronco emblem was scanned with the CarveWright Scanning Probe so it could be carved into the wooden details.

With the scan, a logo center was carved for this beautiful wood steering wheel.

It wouldn’t be a Bronco without the classic Ford grill and tailgate.

Even the light bosses as well as the brake and turn signal light covers were carved.

One of the final details to be added was the dashboard. Using a classic Bronco as inspiration, it was carved and equipped with tachometer, speakers and all the other usual dashboard components. Take a look at those carved pedals too!

Finally, with some new wheels, this thing is ready for action.

This is truly one of the most fun projects we’ve ever seen made with a CarveWright CNC router. Mr. Bipes makes all kinds of other great projects too. Check out more of his work on his CarveShop facebook page or buy one of his projects from the CarveDEPOT.
